AVM Nidus Definition via Planar DSA Co-Registration with MRI-based Maximum Intensity Projections
- Event: 8th International Conference of the Novalis Circle 2018
- Topic: Vascular radiosurgery
- Year: 2018
Mohsen Javadpour, MD, from Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, discusses arteriovenous malformation (AVM) nidus definition using planar digital subtraction angiogram (DSA) co-registration with MRI-based maximum intensity projections (MIP). He begins by mentioning that AVM management is probably one of the most varied at different centers around the world. He then gives an overview of the natural history and management options for AVMs. He then talks specifically about stereotactic radiosurgery for the treatment of AVMS and goes into the imaging modalities for assessing AVMs. He poses the question: Do we still need DSA? Dr. Javadpour argues yes, using examples from two studies completed, before demonstrating treatment planning in combination with Elements SmartBrush Angio.
