Clinical Experience Utilizing Elements Multiple Brain Mets SRS
Wenyin Shi, MD, Radiation Oncologist at Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia discusses his institution’s clinical experience utilizing Elements Multiple Brain Mets SRS software. He begins by giving a short background on brain metastases, their incidence and the paradigm shift toward more focused treatments, like radiosurgery. He then presents evidence by way of studies that suggest radiosurgery without whole brain radiation therapy (WBRT) results in better preservation of cognitive function. He then delves into the current clinical practice at his institution including an in depth examination of the use of Elements Multiple Brain Mets SRS planning software. Finally, he touches on the SRS Registry and the data collected that is used to inform future treatments.
