Comparison of Linac-Based Single Isocenter Dynamic Conformal Arc Software to Cobalt-Based Multiple Isocenter Planning Software


Michel Chea, MSc, Medical Physicist from Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris compares linac-based single isocenter dynamic conformal arc software to Cobalt-based multiple isocenter planning software, specifically automatic treatment planning and dosimetric comparison with GammaKnife Perfexion. First, he gives an overview of treatment planning with Elements Multiple Brain Metastases SRS software, before outlining the material and methods of their study. He then reveals the results of the study in terms of target volumes, organs at risk and beam on time compared to GammaPlan.

Good morning, everybody. Thank you for introducing me. For my presentation, I am going to talk about the imaging comparison between two techniques of multiple brain metastases treatment with a single isocenter DCA and multiple isocenter technique from the GammaKnife. The multiple brain metastases software allows an automatic pairing of multiple brain metastases treatment. With the version 1.5, it's now possible to treat up to 15 lesions simultaneously. Okay.
