First Experiences Utilizing Elements Adaptive Hybrid Surgery Analysis
Orin Bloch, MD, from Northwestern University in Chicago discusses his institution’s first experiences with Elements Adaptive Hybrid Surgery (AHS) Analysis. When treating complex skull base tumors in association with high risk structures, surgeons are already pre-planning not to go for gross total resection, rather maximum safe resection to leave residual tumor and then treat the residual with adjuvant therapies. To demonstrate how the software serves the same purpose, he presents a feasibility case for a complex lower cranial nerve schwannoma. He then describes the software and how it works before, during and after surgery.
