Hypo-fractionated SRS of postoperative resection cavity of large single brain metastases
Guiseppe Minniti, MD, Radiation Oncologist from Azienda Ospedaliera Sant’Andrea in Rome discusses hypo-fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery of the postoperative resection cavity of large single brain metastases. He begins with a short overview of surgery for brain metastases including recent studies pertaining to it and its combination with whole brain radiation therapy (WBRT). He then goes on to discuss changes in technology over the last two decades, including the use of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) even progressing to becoming the sole treatment method. He then delves into the analysis of the results of hypo-fractionated SRS of the resection cavity and the conclusions reached.
