Neurocognition in patients with brain metastases treated with radiosurgery
Eric Chang, MD, professor and chair of radiation oncology from the Keck School of Medicine, USC, Los Angeles, discusses neurocognition in patients with brain metastases treated with radiosurgery or radiotherapy plus whole brain radiation therapy (WBRT). He begins by presenting some background, studies from the literature, and key questions to consider. He then highlights two of his cases of patients with multiple brain metastases and reviews the latest data from the Alliance NCCTG N0574 trial. Finally, he discusses various platforms for treating multiple metastases and cautionary approaches to consider.
