Dosimetric Evaluation of New Automated Planning Tools for Spine SRS
- Event: 8th International Conference of the Novalis Circle 2018
- Topic: Medical Physics
- Year: 2018
Niko Papanikolaou, PhD, from the Mays Cancer Center at UT Health San Antonio, MD Anderson Cancer Center, discusses dosimetric evaluation for new automated planning tools for spine radiosurgery, Brainlab Elements Spine SRS. First, he gives some background on the history of the use of Brainlab Elements at UT Health San Antonio. He provides an overview of the Elements Spine SRS software application, which includes features for spinal curvature correction, spine contouring and spine VMAT optimization. He then delves into a treatment planning study to evaluate the clinical benefit of Spine SRS compared to other treatment planning systems. Papanikolaou then goes on to discuss commissioning and testing and clinical implementation and finally his conclusion that Elements Spine SRS is uniquely suited for spine radiosurgery.
