Surgery for Brain Metastasis: Does It Still Have A Role?
Orin Bloch, MD, from Northwestern Memorial Hospital discusses whether surgery for brain metastases still plays a role given all the advances in radiosurgery. He begins by giving a history on studies done about surgery for brain metastases as well as the limits of radiosurgery. He then provides an outline of the arguments for as well as against surgery, including the risks, for indications in the modern era. Dr. Bloch then gives a detailed overview of surgery for brain metastases today and uses case examples to demonstrate these arguments.
