Trajectory Based Treatment Planning and Delivery for Cranial Radiosurgery
James Robar, PhD, from Queen Elizabeth II Health Science Centre at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, discusses trajectory-based, also sometimes referred to as 4Pi delivery, treatment planning and delivery in cases of cranial radiosurgery. He begins by explaining the four algorithmic considerations of trajectory-based planning: Overlap between PTV and OAR, relative depth, QUANTEC dose weighting and promoting rapid dose fall-off. He then discusses in detail the generated overlap maps and how to navigate and optimize beam trajectories through them, as well as delivering the created plan.
